The salivary hormone values, therefore, reflect the biologically active (the unbound) portion available to target cells. Blood hormone assays reflect both bound and free forms of hormones and do not provide information about the bioavailable fraction of hormone, which can vary depending on the level of blood hormone binding proteins. Hair AnalysisHair mineral analysis offers you a clear understanding of your body's mineral and trace element levels. It can usually identify inorganic toxic materials that may be present so that appropriate treatments can be begun to eliminate them naturally from your body. Acoustic Cardio Graphing (ACG)An ACG records the sounds of the heart as the blood moves through the various chambers, valves, and vessels. The "graph signature" reflects the opening and closing of the valves, the contraction and strength of the heart muscle, and the efficiency of the movement of blood. These extremely accurate "signature graphs" of the ACG provide us with information showing us:
Fitness Program PlanningIf you're considering putting an exercise program together it's perfectly normal to have a lot of questions swimming around in your head. What's the best activity to participate in? How do I get the most out of exercising? How long should I exercise? Let Total Health help you every step of the way. Body Composition AnalysisBody Composition is the technical term used to describe the different components that, when taken together, make up a person's body weight. The human body is composed of a variety of different tissue types. The so-called 'lean' tissues, such as muscle, bone, and organs are metabolically active, while adipose (fat) tissue is not. Standard scales can tell you a total weight, but can't determine the lean-to-fat ratio of that weight. By the old height-weight charts, an athlete can be "over-weight" and not "over-fat." A bodybuilder, for example, may be 8% body fat, yet at 250 pounds may be considered "over-weight" by a typical weight chart. In general, charts are not a good indication of a athlete's ideal body weight for general health or for athletic performance. Body TypingBody typing is the recognition of different body types. It attempts to address questions which modern medicine, in spite of the use of sophisticated medical tests, has been unable to answer. Why for instance, does one person suffer from diabetes and another from hypoglycemia? Why is it that one person can cope with an enormous amount of stress while another succumbs to a much smaller amount? Why does one person have a fast metabolism while another has a slow metabolism? Why is it that one person is a bookworm while another prefers sport or physical activity? Why is it that one person is much more sensitive than another? Why is it that one person is constantly catching colds and flu while another person rarely gets any illness, and yet both people are medically 'normal'? Why is it that some people find it almost impossible to lose weight while others find it impossible to gain weight? Why is it that some people are extraverts while others are introverts? Body typing is the study of these differences. It is based upon the fact that our physical, psychological, and behavioural differences, and our susceptibility to certain diseases, are related to internal physiological and biochemical differences, especially our own unique body type or glandular make up. Since body typing acknowledges the interplay of all these factors in our total well being, it is essentially holistic in nature. Muscle TestingBased on the concept of internal energy fundamental to traditional Chinese medicine, muscle testing is a noninvasive way of evaluating the body’s imbalances and assessing its needs. It involves testing the body’s responses when applying slight pressure to a large muscle, to provide information on energy blockages, the functioning of the organs, nutritional deficiencies, and food sensitivities, among other things. It can also be used to test the body’s responses to herbs and other remedies. In a typical example of muscle testing, you’re given an herb to hold. You extend the other arm and are asked to keep it straight. The practitioner presses down on this arm and the opposite shoulder with equal pressure (to facilitate balance). If the herb is something you need, you’ll be able to resist the downward pressure and hold your arm rigid. If not, you won’t. The same procedure can be used to determine how often you should take each herb and how much each time. It can also be used to test the body’s responses to foods (for allergies), thoughts, sounds, colors, and emotions. Body Fat AnalysisBody composition tells you how much of your weight is made up of fat and how much is muscle. A high percentage of body fat increases your risk for obesity, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol and other illnesses. Tissue Calcium TestingNutritional CounselingMassage TherapyReflexologyCraniosacral Therapyis a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction Raindrop Therapycombines the science of aroma Technique with the techniques of Vita Flex, reflexology, massage, etc., in the application of essential oils, which are applied on various areas of the body to bring structural and electrical alignment. It is designed to bring balance to the body with its relaxing, mild application. It will also help to align and clear the energy centers of the body without using force or excessive pressure. When you combine the electrical frequency and the intelligence of the body and the oil, a greater healing process begins. |
