Richard’s Famous Turkey Burgers

Ingredients

I request these delicious burgers about once a week from my talented chef/husband Richard. They are easy to cook, fast, and make wonderful leftovers for lunch the next day.

Ingredients (use organic whenever possible)

• 1 pound ground turkey

• 1/2 a chopped onion

• 3 chopped mushrooms

• 2 cloves minced garlic

• 1/2 cup or less of quinoa flakes (optional - good if meat is too moist)

• Worcestershire sauce

• Butter

• Olive oil

• Salt to taste

Directions

1. Sauté the mushrooms, onion and garlic in 1 teaspoon of each butter and olive oil at moderate heat until onions are slightly browned - about 5 minutes.

2. While browning, mix the ground turkey in a medium sized bowl with 1 tsp. of salt, quinoa flakes and 2 Tbsp. of Worcestershire sauce. Fold in the sautéed vegetables and mix well.

3. Form 5 turkey burgers.

4. Add 1 Tbsp. of each butter and olive oil, heat to medium temperature and cook the burgers for about 10 minutes in total. Flip when browned.

I love to serve these on a gluten free, O’Dough’s thin seeded bagel (available in the frozen bread section). Top with a sweet Vidalia onion slice, spicy hummus, and broccoli sprouts. Serve with a cabbage slaw or veggie salad. Delicious!
